Evolution
Fossilization is the process by which plant and animals remains are preserved in sedimentary rocks.
The Three catregories are :
I) Actual remains II) Petrifaction III) Natural moulds and casts
I) Actual remains
2) Actual remains : The following hard body parts of dead animals are preserved by Earht's crust. They are 1) Bones, 2) Teeth and 3 Shells. This is the most common method of fossilization
3) The following factors from earth's crust preserve actual remains. 1) Salts, 2 Forzen ice, 3. Volcanic ash
4) When animals die, their hard body parts are covered with sediments
5) These parts are protected from further deterioration and are preserved as such.
6) Marine Organisms are preserved by the salt of the oceans
7) The frozen ice of Siberian Coast has preserved Wolly Mammoth which has lived there 22000 years ago
8) Volcanic ash has preserved intact human beings and animals in the ancient city Pompeii, Italy

Pertifaction is the process in which the original body is lost by disintegration and being replaced by molecule for molecule by minerals
The principal minerals are : i iron pyrites, ii) Silica, iii) Calcium carbonate iv) Calcium bicarbonate v) Magnesium Bicarbonate
III) Natural moulds and casts
The indelible impressions are left by the animals on the soft muds.
The impressions are hardened into stones called moulds
Casts are fossilized moulds filled up with hard minerals
Eg. Coprolites are pellets of fossilized faecal matter or organism
Corprolites help to find out the dietary habits of prehistoric animals
A slight change occurs over time in conserved molecules such as DNA, RNA and protein. They are often called as molecular clocks and serve as molecular evidences of evolutions.
